I will talk about my recent work (arXiv:2102.09113), which discusses how the idea of quantum repetition codes can be adapted to understand discrete time crystals and be further utilized to construct a general family of such phases of matter. The talk will start with some basic introduction to discrete time crystals and quantum repetition codes (no prior knowledge is required). I will then talk about the new physics that I have uncovered in the preprint, which includes the construction of 2^nT-periodic discrete time crystals, the intuition behind such a construction, as well as some encouraging numerical results.
