In both physics and information theory, the definition of a reverse process is conceptually crucial. Here, we introduce how Bayes’ rule and the Petz Recovery Map (as a quantum analogue to Bayes’ rule) fulfills the role of such a generalized recipe. We note insights that such an approach gives in explaining reversibility, fluctuation relations and the connection between irreversibility and dilations.
