OVERVIEW

This Advanced Study Group will focus on theoretical investigations of the crossover between the topological insulator and the Anderson-localized insulator, induced by scattering by magnetic impurities. This crossover is signaled by the suppression of Hall coefficients with increase of a system length due to Anderson localization, as well as due to the dephasing processes at finite temperature. To complete the picture of topological versus Anderson insulator, we are going to investigate edge transport in topological insulators subject to inter-edge scattering and establish possible phases, their stability, and kinetic coefficients in each phase.
